Dr Katja Doerholt

Dr Katja Doerholt is an experienced Consultant Paediatrician with expertise in paediatric infectious diseases and paediatric immunology. She provides comprehensive medical care for infants, children, and young people, focusing on the diagnosis, management, and treatment of complex infectious conditions. Dr Doerholt holds a particular clinical interest in paediatric human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), tuberculosis (TB), and antimicrobial stewardship, working to ensure that young patients receive safe, effective, and tailored care.

Dr Doerholt qualified in medicine after graduating from Friedrich Wilhelm University in Bonn in 1992. Expanding her postgraduate training, she earned a Master of Science in Epidemiology from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine in 2004. She is a Fellow of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health (FRCPCH). To maintain the highest standards of clinical practice, Dr Doerholt holds active professional memberships with the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health, the European Society of Paediatric Infectious Diseases, the Children's HIV Association, and the British Paediatric Allergy Immunology and Infection Group.

Alongside her direct clinical care, Dr Doerholt is actively involved in clinical trials, paediatric research, and outpatient parenteral antimicrobial therapy (OPAT) services. Her research contributions focus on paediatric HIV therapies, managing antimicrobial resistance, and optimising prescribing practices for childhood illnesses. Dr Doerholt is dedicated to delivering compassionate, evidence-based care while advancing medical understanding to improve health outcomes for young patients and their families.
