Dr Katherine Burke

Dr Katherine Burke is a highly dedicated Consultant Neonatologist and Paediatrician who specialises in providing comprehensive care for newborns and young children. With a deep commitment to neonatal intensive care, she focuses on the complex medical needs of vulnerable infants, ensuring they receive the highest standard of clinical support during their critical early days. Her clinical practice encompasses general paediatrics, with a particular emphasis on neonatal medicine, postnatal care, and the management of complex neonatal conditions.

In addition to her core work in neonatal intensive care, Dr Burke has a strong interest in clinical genetics, contributing to advanced initiatives that provide rapid genetic diagnoses for unwell children. She is also actively involved in medical research, simulation training, and family-integrated care, which empowers parents to play an active role in their baby's treatment journey. Her expertise extends to developing clinical guidelines, including specialised postnatal care plans and infection management protocols, to ensure safe and consistent outcomes for all patients.

Dr Burke completed her medical education with a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) from the University of London, having also earned a Master of Arts (MA) from the University of Cambridge. She holds a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) and a Diploma of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (DRCOG). Dr Burke is a Member of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health (MRCPCH) and has been recognised nationally as an outstanding Educational Supervisor, reflecting her dedication to training the next generation of Paediatricians.
