Dr. Katherine Beck

I studied medical sciences (neuroscience) and clinical medicine at the University of Oxford. I have a PhD in Neuroscience and a post-graduate diploma in medical education from King’s College London. I a member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists. My PhD was in neuroimaging to investigate the neurobiology of psychosis, where I have a long standing clinical and research interest. I’ve received awards from the Rosetrees Trust, the Royal College of Psychiatrists, the Royal Society of Medicine, the British Association of Psychopharmacology, the European Council of Neuropsychopharmacology, and the Schizophrenia International Research Society. I’m also a National Institute for Health research Clinical Lecturer at King’s College London where I teach and conduct research.  I completed my specialist training in General Adult Psychiatry at the Maudsley Hospital where I developed a specialist out-patient service for patients with treatment resistant schizophrenia. In addition to psychosis and severe mental illness, I am interested in mood disorders, women’s mental health including perinatal psychiatry,  neuropsychiatry and working with families.
