Dr Kate Young

Dr Kate Young is a dedicated Consultant Medical Oncologist who specialises in the treatment and management of skin and renal (kidney) cancers. Functioning as a Unit Lead within acute oncology services, Dr Young focuses on providing rapid assessment, specialist advice, and urgent clinical care for patients experiencing cancer-related emergencies or severe treatment side effects. Her clinical approach combines advanced medical expertise with compassionate, individualised care, ensuring patients feel supported throughout every stage of their treatment journey.

In her specialist practice, Dr Young delivers comprehensive oncological management for a wide range of conditions, including advanced melanoma, non-melanoma skin cancers, and renal cell carcinoma. She possesses extensive expertise in administering systemic anti-cancer therapies, particularly modern immunotherapies, targeted therapies, and chemotherapy regimens. Furthermore, Dr Young maintains a keen focus on acute oncology and the management of complex treatment toxicities, such as immune checkpoint inhibitor colitis, aiming to maximise treatment effectiveness while safeguarding patient safety and well-being.

Dr Young completed her undergraduate studies at Cambridge University, graduating with a first-class degree in Natural Sciences, before completing her medical degree at Imperial College London, qualifying in 2004. Following general medical training across London, she undertook specialist higher training in Medical Oncology. Driven by a commitment to research and clinical innovation, Dr Young completed a Doctorate of Medicine (Res.) at the Institute of Cancer Research, with research interests centred on novel cancer therapies, translational research, and improving clinical outcomes for cancer patients.
