Dr. Karen Stanley

Dr. Karen Stanley is an accomplished and highly skilled Consultant Psychiatrist with extensive expertise in General Adult Psychiatry, Substance Misuse Psychiatry, and Old Age Psychiatry. After graduating in Medicine from the University of Sheffield in 2009, she dedicated her career to psychiatry, driven by a passion for advancing mental health care and improving patient outcomes. She holds the prestigious MRCPsych qualification and an MSc in Psychiatric Research.

Dr. Stanley became a consultant psychiatrist in 2021. Her professional experience spans a variety of settings, including the NHS, private practice, and the Ministry of Defence, where she has provided exceptional care to a diverse patient population. As an Approved Clinician under Section 12(2) of the Mental Health Act 1983, she is experienced in managing complex mental health cases, ensuring patients receive comprehensive, evidence-based treatment.

Dr. Stanley is particularly experienced in the diagnosis and management of conditions such as anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, OCD, PTSD, ADHD, and Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Her work as a Neurodevelopmental Consultant Psychiatrist involves conducting in-depth assessments for ADHD and ASD in both adolescents and adults. She has completed advanced training in diagnostic tools such as ADI-R and ADOS-2, further enhancing her ability to deliver precise evaluations and tailored treatment plans. Her practice emphasises compassionate, patient-centred care, ensuring that each individual receives the attention and support they need to achieve better mental health outcomes.

In addition to her clinical roles, Dr. Stanley is a trained Forensic Medical Examiner and has worked closely with individuals in custodial settings, providing expert assessments and care.
