Dr. Josephine Neale is a highly qualified and experienced Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist. She has worked in some of the most prestigious hospitals in the UK and has vast experience working with children suffering from various mental health issues, both in an outpatient capacity as well as inpatient. Dr Neale has been with Priory since 2019 and has led teams in adolescent inpatient services, both on a general ward and a psychiatric intensive care ward.

Dr. Neale has a wealth of experience in assessing and managing mental health difficulties in young people, with a particular interest in autism spectrum disorder, eating disorders and somatization (the overlap between psychological and physical symptoms). She firmly believes in the importance of mind-body connection and creating a relaxed treatment setting - two vital concepts that she incorporates into her work with children and young people.

In addition to her clinical expertise, Dr Neale has a rich academic background. She completed her undergraduate medical training at the prestigious Royal Free & University College Medical School in London, and as part of this was awarded a BSc in Medical Sciences with Physiology and Pharmacology. Dr Neale is an adviser to the Academy of Eating Disorders Medical Care Standards Committee and holds a postgraduate certificate in Medical Education. She is also an esteemed clinical research fellow at Imperial College London, with numerous research publications to her name in reputable medical journals. Her research interests surround eating disorders in children and young people, and she has recently published a systematic review and meta-analysis on the growth of children and young people with eating disorders, as well as other journal articles based on her research projects. In addition, she authored a textbook chapter on the links between mental and physical health in young people.
