Dr John Paul Seenan

Dr John Paul Seenan is an accomplished Consultant Gastroenterologist who provides expert diagnostic and therapeutic care for patients experiencing a broad range of digestive conditions. With a strong commitment to delivering compassionate, patient-centred care, Dr Seenan ensures that every individual receives a thorough and reassuring consultation. His clinical practice spans the full spectrum of digestive health, with a clear focus on evidence-based treatment plans tailored to meet each patient's unique needs.

Specialising in luminal gastroenterology, Dr Seenan has a major clinical interest in inflammatory bowel disease, including Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis. His expertise covers the management of altered bowel habits, irritable bowel syndrome, and gastrointestinal health during pregnancy. Dr Seenan is highly skilled in diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures, including colonoscopy, flexible sigmoidoscopy, and gastroscopy. In addition to his clinical focus, he serves as a Colonoscopy Upskilling Lead within endoscopy training programmes, contributing to the highest standards of procedural safety and patient comfort.

Dr Seenan completed his undergraduate medical degree and postgraduate specialist training in the West of Scotland, during which he was awarded a Doctor of Medicine (MD) for his research in luminal gastroenterology. He actively contributes to higher education and clinical research as an Honorary Clinical Associate Professor and Senior NRS Fellow, acting as a chief investigator for academic and commercial trials. He maintains active involvement in professional organisations and serves as Treasurer of the Scottish Society of Gastroenterology.
