Dr. Seamus Murphy is a highly accomplished and experienced Gastroenterologist. From 2016 to 2017, he served as the Associate Professor of Gastroenterology and Director of Inflammatory Bowel Diseases (IBD) at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in Little Rock, AR, USA.
Dr. Murphy received his training in Northern Ireland and the United States. In 2007, he completed an Advanced Fellowship in IBD at Mount Sinai in New York. Additionally, he obtained a PhD in Barrett's oesophagus and oesophageal cancer from Queen's University Belfast in 2005.
In recognition of his clinical and research contributions in Northern Ireland, Dr. Murphy was awarded fellowship of the American Gastroenterological Association (AGAF) in 2017. He worked as a Consultant Gastroenterologist in the Southern Trust at Daisy Hill Hospital in Newry from 2007-2023.
Dr. Murphy's clinical practice covers all general gastroenterology including the management of inflammatory bowel diseases such as Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis. Dr Seamus Murphy was friendly and has a lovely bedside manner. I never felt rushed during appointments and he explained things well. I would highly recommend visiting Dr Murphy for any gastro concerns.

I had a very positive experience although I tried to get in contact with him post my Endoscopy and it took far too long for the message to be relayed back to him .I received a letter which was dictated by him which mentioned 'a wound' and on 11th April when I mentioned this ,he said this was a typo .In my opinion this is unacceptable bearing in mind when I received this letter ,it made me very anxious .

I was very lucky to be able to get a timely appointment with Dr Murphy I had to have a gastroscopy and the whole experience was fantastic His nursing team are brilliant. He is brilliant. The whole procedure was over before I knew it and thanks to personalised amnesic analgesia I was unaware of the discomfort!!

Dr Murphy looked after me really well. I had a long standing issue with my tummy and the care that Dr Murphy delivered was excellent. He carried out a range of appropriate diagnostic tests. In addition he discussed my problems in detail and and gave me a plan on the way forward. I found Dr Murphy to very helpful and professional in his level of care.
