About Dr Malcolm Smith
Dr. Malcolm Smith is a Consultant Gastroenterologist who qualified in 1997 from the University of Aberdeen. He has been a Consultant Gastroenterologist at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary since 2007. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh and a member of the British Society of Gastroenterology and Scottish Society of Gastroenterology. He is a trainer in endoscopy, colonoscopy, and ERCP.
Dr. Smith's specialist interests include inflammatory bowel disease, functional bowel disorders including irritable bowel syndrome, advanced upper and lower GI endoscopy. Dr. Smith performs Colorectal Screening colonoscopy. He is the lead clinician for Inflammatory Bowel Disease in Aberdeen.

I had been back and forth to my GP for over a year getting a mis diagnosis of IBS, already had colonoscopy and then referal for endoscopy with Dr Smith. He did examination of stomach area and found sore spot so recommended a CT scan where they then found an 8cm cyst on my ovary. Endoscopy was also carried out to rule anything else out.

From the very first interaction, Dr. Smith demonstrated exceptional professionalism and a calm, reassuring presence that immediately put me at ease. Every aspect of my care was handled with precision and thoughtfulness. Dr. Smith took the time to listen carefully, asked insightful questions, and explained everything clearly, ensuring I felt informed and confident throughout the process. His attitude was consistently warm, respectful, and empathetic, making it easy to trust his judgement and feel genuinely cared for. I left feeling not only well looked after but also truly supported. I would highly recommend Dr. Smith to anyone seeking top-tier medical care delivered with integrity and excellence.
