Dr Joanna Behrsin

Dr Joanna Behrsin is a highly dedicated Consultant Neonatologist and Head of Service who specialises in the care of newborn infants. With a reassuring and compassionate approach, she is committed to supporting families during what can be a highly challenging time. Dr Behrsin focuses on providing the highest standard of medical care to premature, low birth weight, and critically ill babies, ensuring they receive the specialised attention required to thrive.

Her clinical expertise spans a wide range of neonatal conditions and advanced treatments. Dr Behrsin has particular interests in neonatal intensive care, neonatal transport, and the stabilisation of sick newborns. She is highly skilled in therapeutic hypothermia (cooling therapy) for babies with hypoxic-ischaemic encephalopathy, oxygen saturation targeting, and the management of complex congenital conditions such as congenital diaphragmatic hernia. Her work ensures that vulnerable newborns are safely monitored, treated, and transported when necessary.

Dr Behrsin is fully registered with the General Medical Council and is on the Specialist Register for Paediatrics. She holds membership of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health (MRCPCH). Her extensive training includes valuable international experience, having worked within a major neonatal intensive care unit in Melbourne, Australia, which has further enriched her clinical practice and global perspective on neonatal medicine.

In addition to her clinical duties, Dr Behrsin is a prominent leader in service development, workforce planning, and clinical governance.
