Dr Jill Cadwgan

Dr Jill Cadwgan is a highly dedicated Consultant Paediatrician specialising in paediatric neurodisability. She focuses on supporting children and young people with complex medical, developmental, and neurological conditions. Her clinical practice is centred on enhancing the lives of children with physical disabilities, helping them to improve their daily function and actively participate in everyday activities. With a compassionate and patient-centred approach, Dr Cadwgan works closely with families to navigate complex care pathways and deliver tailored management plans.

Her extensive clinical expertise encompasses the management of complex motor disorders, including cerebral palsy and unilateral cerebral palsy. Dr Cadwgan is particularly skilled in addressing upper and lower limb movement difficulties, saliva control, and the management of neurocutaneous conditions such as neurofibromatosis and tuberous sclerosis. She provides a range of specialised interventions, including botulinum toxin injections, to reduce muscle spasms, alleviate pain, and assist children with the use of therapeutic equipment. Additionally, she has a keen interest in managing feeding, nutrition, and visual impairment in children with complex developmental needs.

Dr Cadwgan qualified with a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB) from the University of Leeds in 2000. She went on to obtain a Postgraduate Certificate in Clinical Education from the University of Newcastle in 2006, followed by her Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) in Paediatric Neurodisability in 2009. Committed to advancing her field, she serves as the Chair of the Paediatric Neurodisability College Specialty Advisory Committee for the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health. She is also the Honorary Secretary of the British Academy of Childhood Disability and a Trustee of the Northeast Special Needs Network, contributing actively to national research and clinical standards.
