Dr Jeffery Smith

Dr Jeffery Smith is a dedicated Consultant Haematologist who specialises in the diagnosis, treatment, and management of a wide range of blood disorders and haematological malignancies. Known for his thorough and patient-centred approach, Dr Smith provides compassionate care to individuals facing complex blood conditions. His practice encompasses both benign haematological conditions and malignant blood disorders, ensuring patients receive precise diagnostic evaluations and individualised care plans.

Dr Smith possesses significant clinical expertise in lymphoid malignancies, with a focus on lymphoma, chronic lymphocytic leukaemia, and myeloid disorders. He has a particular clinical interest in central nervous system lymphoma, as well as investigating abnormal full blood counts. In his practice, Dr Smith utilises advanced diagnostic techniques, including bone marrow aspirate and biopsy as well as lymph node biopsy, to formulate accurate diagnoses. His treatment repertoire includes targeted drug therapies, immunotherapy, and chemotherapy protocols. In addition to his clinical care, Dr Smith actively participates in clinical research, serving as a Principal Investigator for trials aimed at advancing standard treatments for blood cancers.

Dr Smith completed his undergraduate medical education at the University of Edinburgh, graduating with a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery with Honours in 2003, alongside a Bachelor of Medical Science in Immunology. He commenced his postgraduate training in Merseyside and completed his higher specialist training in Edinburgh in 2012. Dr Smith is a Member of the Royal College of Physicians and a Fellow of the Royal College of Pathologists. He maintains an active role in professional bodies, including membership in the British Society for Haematology, and has held prominent regional leadership roles such as Chair of the NCRI Central Nervous System Lymphoma Working Group.
