Dr James Diviney

Dr James Diviney is a highly skilled Consultant in Paediatric Intensive Care Medicine who provides specialist care for critically ill infants, children, and young people. With comprehensive training in general and sub-speciality paediatrics, Dr Diviney offers expert medical assessment and management for children facing severe, life-threatening health conditions. His clinical work encompasses paediatric intensive care, cardiac intensive care, complex airway management, and paediatric retrieval medicine, ensuring that young patients receive high-quality, compassionate care during critical periods of illness.

In his clinical practice, Dr Diviney focuses on advanced respiratory support, complex mechanical ventilation, and paediatric bronchoscopy. He plays a central role in specialist paediatric airway services and critical care retrieval services, co-ordinating the safe assessment and transport of critically unwell children across regional healthcare networks. Additionally, Dr Diviney maintains strong clinical interests in health informatics, emergency resuscitation protocols, and medical education, contributing to the development of enhanced treatment standards and training programmes for paediatric healthcare professionals.

Dr Diviney completed his undergraduate medical education at the University of Cambridge, graduating with distinction in his Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MB BChir) alongside a double first-class honours Master of Arts degree in Physiology, Development, and Neuroscience. He gained his Membership of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health (MRCPCH) in 2016. Demonstrating a dedicated commitment to clinical instruction, he also holds a Postgraduate Certificate in Medical Education with merit awarded by University College London and the Royal College of Physicians. Dr Diviney is a registered Member of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health.
