Mr James Alvey

Mr James Alvey is a highly accomplished Consultant Podiatric Surgeon who specialises in both the surgical and non-surgical management of foot and ankle conditions. Reassuring and professional, he is dedicated to delivering comprehensive care tailored to each patient's unique needs. His clinical practice encompasses a wide range of forefoot concerns, from common issues such as bunions and ingrown toenails to complex musculoskeletal pathologies. By combining advanced therapeutic techniques with a patient-centred approach, Mr Alvey helps individuals regain mobility and find relief from persistent foot discomfort.

In his daily practice, Mr Alvey provides expert assessment and treatment for conditions such as hammer toes, neuromas, heel pain, and arthritic joints of the foot and ankle. He is highly skilled in performing podiatric foot surgery, including bunion removal and corrective procedures for flat foot or cavus foot deformities. Alongside surgical interventions, he offers conservative management options, including the prescription of custom foot orthoses and the administration of therapeutic corticosteroid and hyaluronan injections. His expertise also extends to lower limb biomechanics and gait analysis, ensuring a holistic approach to restoring optimal foot function.

Mr Alvey qualified in Podiatry from the University of Brighton in 1993, subsequently embarking on specialised surgical studies in 2001. He completed his comprehensive surgical training alongside orthopaedic foot and ankle specialists within the NHS, culminating in the award of his Surgical Fellowship (FCPodS) in 2008. In addition to his clinical qualifications, which include a Master of Science (MSc) and a Postgraduate Certificate (PGCert), Mr Alvey is committed to advancing his field. He serves as a visiting Senior Lecturer in the Podiatry Division at the University of Brighton and is recognised as an accredited Clinical Educator, helping to train the next generation of podiatric specialists.
