About Mr Islam Gamaleldin
Mr. Islam Gamaleldin is a Consultant Gynaecologist and Endometriosis Specialist at Southmead Hospital in Bristol, where he has been practicing for five years. He is recognised as an expert in endometriosis and other benign gynaecological conditions, specialising in endometriosis excision surgery, menstrual disorders, pelvic pain, sub-fertility related to endometriosis, and gynaecological ultrasound. He also has extensive experience in hysterectomy, fibroids, hysteroscopic surgery, and advanced minimally invasive laparoscopic and robotic pelvic surgery.
Since 2020, Mr. Gamaleldin has co-led the North Bristol Tertiary Endometriosis Centre at Southmead Hospital, which is accredited by the British Society for Gynaecological Endoscopy. The outcomes of his surgical cases are regularly audited to maintain the centre's yearly accreditation. He completed advanced training in endometriosis and minimally invasive surgery at a nationally recognised BSGE Endometriosis Centre following his specialist training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology.
In addition to his clinical work, Mr. Gamaleldin has a strong academic background, having served as a Clinical Lecturer in Reproductive Medicine at the University of Bristol. He is currently an Honorary Senior Lecturer at the university. His research in Reproductive Medicine earned him an MD and has led to several international publications. He is an active researcher and regularly teaches and presents at national and international conferences on endometriosis, minimally invasive laparoscopic and robotic surgery, and general gynaecological conditions.

Going private for support with suspected endo was a tough decision. But it was by far the best thing I did for myself. Dr Gamaleldin was amazing from the first appointment to my post op follow up. Without his advise, support and knowledge I would have had 2 ops on the NHS instead of one. In addition i would have still be waiting for any advice or guidance under the NHS. It has been life changing and allowed me to get back on track with my life. I have and will continue to recommend.

I’ve been dealing with my endometriosis for 20 years now, having had a couple of surgeries in the past. After my consultant retired, I needed to find someone who could tackle it with me. Islam was the 4th consultant I met with, and I instantly felt at ease and had total confidence in him. He’s warm, kind and extremely knowledgeable, working with you to find the best solution to help you. After 6 months of chronic pain, he performed complex surgery to resolve it, and I was pain free and back to normal within 7-10 days. Couldn’t recommend him more highly

I recently had a surgical procedure performed by Mr Gamaleldin. I have been very impressed with the level of care and the time Mr Gamaleldin gave me from initial consultation to the procedure and the post operation follow-ups. Mr Gamaleldin explained everything and answered any queries I had with ease. He kept in regular contact during my hospital stay, maintained this contact after my discharge and updated me on the results of scans/ lab results etc in a timely manner. Mr Gamaleldin is a consummate professional. I count myself very lucky to have had him deal with my case.
Islam is such a lovely, kind, down to earth, caring person who is amazing at his job! I’m a bit of a complex case and always felt I was in safe hands with him. Anyone who is treated by him is very lucky indeed.
