Dr Iain Horrocks

Dr Iain Horrocks is a dedicated Consultant Paediatric Neurologist who specialises in Paediatrics, with a particular focus on diagnosing and managing complex neurological and neuromuscular conditions in children. Dr Horrocks provides comprehensive medical care for young patients presenting with a wide range of neurological conditions, ensuring every child receives tailored support. His clinical duties encompass both emergency acute paediatric neurology cover and routine specialist outpatient care, guiding families with clear explanations and empathetic, patient-centred support.

With deep clinical expertise in paediatric nerve and muscle disorders, Dr Horrocks leads multi-disciplinary care teams for children affected by conditions such as Duchenne muscular dystrophy, spinal muscular atrophy, spina bifida, and hydrocephalus. He has been instrumental in delivering innovative medical interventions, including groundbreaking gene therapy for children with spinal muscular atrophy. In addition to direct clinical care, Dr Horrocks actively leads clinical research trials and coordinates diagnostic evaluations—such as electroencephalography and nerve conduction studies—to continuously advance paediatric healthcare standards.

Dr Horrocks completed his postgraduate medical training in paediatric neurology and holds membership with the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health (MRCPCH). To further enhance his expertise, he completed a specialist neuromuscular fellowship in Sydney, Australia. He plays an active role in professional medical organisations, serving as a member of the Steering Group for the Scottish Muscle Network and contributing to the British Paediatric Neurology Association.
