Dr Helen Buglass

Dr Helen Buglass is a highly accomplished Consultant Anaesthetist and Consultant in Intensive Care Medicine who is dedicated to providing exceptional care to patients undergoing surgical procedures and those requiring critical care. With a reassuring and patient-centred approach, she specialises in administering safe and effective anaesthesia, ensuring that patients are comfortable and well-monitored throughout their treatment. Her clinical practice is defined by a strong commitment to patient safety, meticulous perioperative care, and supporting patients through every stage of their clinical journey.

Dr Buglass obtained her primary medical qualification from the University of Aberdeen, graduating with a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB) in 1993. She subsequently completed rigorous specialist training in anaesthesia and critical care, earning her Fellowship of the Royal College of Anaesthetists (FRCA). To maintain the highest standards of clinical excellence, she actively participates in professional development and is a member of key medical bodies, contributing to the advancement of her fields.

Beyond her direct clinical duties, Dr Buglass is a prominent leader in medical education and clinical governance. She serves as a Regional Advisor for the Faculty of Intensive Care Medicine (FICM) and has dedicated significant expertise to her role as a Clinical Lead for Organ Donation. Her clinical interests and areas of expertise include critical care transfer, intensive care echocardiography, and focused ultrasound in intensive care. Through these leadership and clinical roles, she continues to drive improvements in patient outcomes and safety standards.
