Dr Grant Stewart

Dr Grant Stewart is a highly experienced Consultant Urological Surgeon and Professor of Surgical Oncology who specialises in the diagnosis and management of urological malignancies, with a primary clinical focus on kidney cancer. He offers comprehensive care for patients with renal disease, providing all modes of treatment ranging from major open surgery to minimally invasive robotic approaches. Dr Stewart is dedicated to delivering personalised, patient-centred care, ensuring that individuals receive timely diagnoses and evidence-based therapeutic options tailored to their specific needs.

In addition to his surgical practice, Dr Stewart is deeply involved in advancing clinical standards and translational research within urological oncology. His clinical interests encompass early detection and screening for renal cell carcinoma, active surveillance for small renal masses, and the implementation of innovative diagnostic pathways, such as one-stop renal biopsy clinics. Dr Stewart has also served in key lead roles developing national clinical guidelines aimed at improving diagnostic accuracy, risk prediction, and treatment pathways for patients diagnosed with kidney cancer.

Dr Stewart earned his medical degree (MBChB) and a Bachelor of Science (BSc) from the University of Edinburgh, where he subsequently completed a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD). He holds a Fellowship from the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in Urology [FRCSEd (Urol)] as well as a Master of Arts (MA) degree. He is a member of the British Association of Urological Surgeons, remaining committed to surgical excellence, clinical research, and the continuous improvement of patient care.
