Dr Grant Bayne

Dr Grant Bayne is a highly skilled Consultant Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgeon who specialises in shoulder and elbow surgery. With a patient-centred approach, he is dedicated to restoring mobility and improving the quality of life for individuals experiencing joint pain, instability, and degenerative conditions. Dr Bayne provides comprehensive care, utilising both non-surgical and advanced surgical techniques to address a wide range of upper limb and joint disorders.

His clinical practice focuses heavily on shoulder arthroplasty, including resurfacing, hemiarthroplasty, total shoulder replacement, and reverse geometry shoulder replacement. Dr Bayne is also highly proficient in performing rotator cuff tendon repairs, shoulder decompressions, and treating shoulder instability secondary to labral pathology to prevent recurrent dislocations. In addition to his shoulder expertise, he performs a variety of elbow procedures, such as tennis elbow release, golfer's elbow release, ulnar nerve decompressions, and elbow arthroscopies, alongside primary hip replacement surgeries.

Dr Bayne graduated from Aberdeen University Medical School, earning his Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Sciences and his Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery. He completed his basic surgical training in Bath before undertaking specialist orthopaedic training in the Wessex region, rotating through several regional hospitals. To further refine his expertise, he completed a prestigious fellowship in Geelong, Australia, where he conducted research on labral pathology within the shoulder. He holds a Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons.
