Dr Gavin Charlesworth

Dr Gavin Charlesworth is a Consultant Neurologist who provides comprehensive care for individuals experiencing a wide spectrum of neurological conditions. He is dedicated to delivering clear diagnostic guidance and patient-centred management strategies to support optimal neurological health. In his clinical practice, Dr Charlesworth emphasises compassionate, evidence-based care tailored to the individual needs of each patient.

Dr Charlesworth maintains a special interest in movement disorders, acute neurology, and neurogenetics. He regularly evaluates and manages complex conditions including Parkinson's disease, dystonia, tremor, functional movement disorders, and Huntington's disease, alongside general neurological conditions such as epilepsy, multiple sclerosis, and migraines. To manage these conditions effectively, he utilises advanced therapies including deep brain stimulation, botulinum toxin administration, and specialised medical treatments, alongside targeted genetic testing for inherited neurological disorders.

Dr Charlesworth graduated with Honours in Medicine from King's College London, where he also completed an intercalated degree in Neuroscience. He subsequently completed his specialist clinical training in Neurology in London. Continuing his academic pursuits, Dr Charlesworth was awarded a PhD in Molecular Neuroscience from the Institute of Neurology at University College London, conducting research into the genetic mechanisms of movement disorders. He also holds a Bachelor of Arts with Honours in History from the Open University and actively contributes to clinical research and the education of medical students.
