Dr Elaine Chan

Dr Elaine Chan is a highly accomplished Consultant Respiratory Paediatrician who specialises in diagnosing and managing complex respiratory conditions in children. With a reassuring and patient-centred approach, she is dedicated to providing the highest standard of care for young patients experiencing breathing and sleep difficulties. As a leading Consultant in her field, Dr Chan serves as the Clinical Lead for Non-invasive Ventilation and Respiratory services, where she oversees advanced treatment programmes tailored to the unique needs of each child.

Her extensive clinical expertise spans a wide range of paediatric respiratory disorders. Dr Chan has a particular interest in sleep medicine, long-term ventilation, and non-invasive ventilation for children with sleep-disordered breathing. Her clinical practice also encompasses the management of complex conditions such as difficult asthma, cystic fibrosis, congenital lung malformations, and chronic lung disease arising from prematurity. Through her comprehensive and compassionate care, she helps families navigate the challenges of chronic respiratory illnesses, ensuring that children receive optimal support to improve their quality of life.

Dr Chan completed her medical training at Guy's Hospital Medical School, which is part of the United Medical Schools of Guy's and St Thomas' Hospitals. During her medical studies, she also successfully obtained a Bachelor of Science degree. Alongside her clinical work, she is actively involved in medical education and research, holding an appointment as an Honorary Associate Professor in the Infection, Immunity and Inflammation Department at the University College London Institute of Child Health.
