Dr Tim Cross is a Consultant Gastroenterologist with a subspecialty interest in Hepatology currently working at Spire Cheshire and Spire Liverpool hospitals.Â
Tim qualified as a doctor in 1996 from St. Bartholomew's Hospital Medical School and went on to complete his general gastroenterology on the North East Thames rotation. Following that, he undertook subspecialty training in hepatology, including transplant hepatology at Kings College Hospital, Cambridge and the Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust. After completing his training, he worked as a consultant for three and a half years in the South West Liver Unit in Plymouth before relocating to the North West.
Tim has a specialist interest in diseases concerning the liver, such as autoimmune hepatitis, cirrhosis, fatty liver disease, viral hepatitis and liver fibrosis. He also offers diagnostic upper and lower gastrointestinal endoscopy.Â
He did his research degree on assessment of liver damage by blood tests and using Fibroscan. He offers a private Fibroscan service.
He has a research interest in hepatocellular carcinoma and disease modelling in cirrhosis and has published over one hundred peer-reviewed abstracts and publications has written 5 book chapters and has edited a textbook on liver disease.Â
He is currently secretary of the British Association for the study of the liver (BASL)
He is a committee member of HCC-UK
He is interested in music (guitar) and sport (rugby, cricket, running, and fencing).
