About

Dr Scot Garg trained at the University of Manchester, graduating in 1999. He then undertook his specialist training in cardiology and coronary angioplasty (PCI) in  Yorkshire.

Following his specialist training, Dr Garg worked at the Thoraxcentre, Rotterdam, The Netherlands, researching new coronary stents and the risk stratification of patients treated by PCI. He received his PhD researching the latter from the Erasmus University in 2011 with a cum laude judicium. He has over 100 publications in peer-reviewed journals and has presented at meetings nationally and internationally.  He is currently a peer reviewer for several cardiology journals and is on the international editorial board for one journal. He continues to research in Cardiology and teaches other clinicians.

In 2010, Dr Garg he became the Interventional Fellow at the Royal Stoke University Hospital and in the following year began work as a Consultant Interventional Cardiologist at the East Lancashire NHS Trust. Through this, he has intensive experience in PCI. Essentially all of his diagnostic and interventional cases are performed trans-radially. Dr Garg performs hundreds of angiogram and angioplasty procedures each year and treats over one thousand patients annually.

Dr Garg will see patients without a referral and by appointment outside his regular clinic times.

Dr. Garg went out of his way to be helpful and in arranging an appointment to see him for the first time at his clinic for the following day and to arrange for ECT and then a heart scan. He explained things very clearly indeed and showed compassion to my situation. Over the Bank holiday weekend, he called me to bring the date forward and I am most grateful to him for this and what he has done for me to date. It was his Bank Holiday also but that did not stop him from caring about others such as myself. I thank him most sincerely.

My previous cardiologist has retired and this was my first consultation with / treatment by Dr Garg. His diagnosis was spot on and the suggested procedure was well organised and went well on the day it was supposed too. I was kept fully informed by email in between - including copies of all letters to my GP and other medical professionals, not something many can be bothered to do! Dr Garg personally brought the surgeon responsible for the next steps / procedures to see me and ensured a proper handover etc. My five star score all round was well deserved.
