Dr Shaheen Khan

Dr Shaheen Khan is a Consultant in Palliative Medicine at Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust. He also has honorary contracts at King's College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and Lewisham Healthcare NHS Trust. His areas of expertise include: Pain management and complex symptom control; Advance care planning; Patient safety and risk management; Postgraduate medical education and Service development and clinical leadership. Dr Khan provides a broad range of expertise in the management of medical problems within the context of serious illness. He treats patients in a holistic manner, working closely with their clinical teams, relatives and carers. Dr Khan supports patients with any serious illness, including cancer and other serious illnesses such as heart disease, respiratory problems, and neurological disorders.

He graduated from Kings, Guy's and St. Thomas' Medical School in 2003, having also been awarded a first class honours degree in BSc Neuroscience in 2000. He completed the MSc in Palliative Care from Kings' College London in 2010, and in 2011 he obtained a Postgraduate Certificate in Clinical Leadership. Dr. Khan is committed education and training and is the Training Programme Director for the KHP Palliative Medicine StR training programme in London, Kent, Surrey and Sussex. He runs regular courses and seminars for medical practicioners community and hospital staff on a range of topics including pain control, medications safety and advance care planning.
