It is difficult to put into words just how grateful we are for the exceptional care, professionalism and compassion shown by our cardiologist, Dr Robin Roberts. What makes his care truly extraordinary is that, despite being on holiday in another country, he took the time to review my husband’s situation, arranged an urgent cardiac scan, interpreted the results without delay, and immediately coordinated his admission to hospital. His swift and decisive action led to my husband receiving an emergency angioplasty, which undoubtedly prevented what could have been a far more serious outcome. At every stage, we felt that my husband’s wellbeing was his absolute priority. His communication was clear, reassuring and honest, and he inspired complete confidence during an incredibly frightening time for our family. His commitment did not end there. On returning from holiday, he personally arranged a follow-up consultation and ensured my husband received excellent ongoing aftercare. The continuity of care, attention to detail and genuine concern shown throughout our journey have been outstanding. We know consultants have demanding roles and also deserve time away from work, yet he went above and beyond anything we could reasonably have expected. His dedication, expertise and kindness made an immeasurable difference to my husband’s outcome and gave our family enormous reassurance during one of the most stressful periods of our lives. We will always be deeply thankful for the exceptional care Dr Roberts provided and consider ourselves incredibly fortunate to have been under his care...

He is always on top of his game and keeps abreast with the latest medical research and guidelines. He explained my diagnosis and treatment plan clearly and with the amount of detail that I find necessary for clarity. I left the consultation understanding my condition and felt confident in the treatment plan. I had full confidence in his management of my case and I will not hesitate to seek his expertise if the need arises again. I always aim to help patients develop an understanding of their condition. This benefits the doctor and the patient in identifying and sticking to the best plan of care.

I had an excellent experience with Dr Roberts, who has been my cardiologist since I first met him in 2021. From the very beginning, I was impressed by how warm, friendly, and genuinely welcoming he is, which immediately put me at ease during what was a very stressful time. I was diagnosed with microvascular angina, which I suffered with for 15 years undiagnosed. I was failed by my GP and the NHS on numerous occasions. Dr Roberts acted quickly to ensure I received the care I needed. He arranged for me to begin ECP (External counterpulsation treatment) straight away, and I truly felt that I was in safe and capable hands throughout the entire process. What stands out most about Dr Roberts is his ability to combine deep medical expertise with real compassion. He takes the time to explain everything clearly, answers questions patiently, and never makes you feel rushed. His reassuring manner made a difficult diagnosis much easier to cope with. The overall care I received has been outstanding, and I feel very grateful to be under his guidance. I would highly recommend Dr Roberts to anyone looking for a knowledgeable, attentive, and caring cardiologist.

Microvascular angina is often missed and as you know it is less commonly identified in men than in women. I was delighted to see your ge symptoms diminish as the treatment progressed.

Everything that I wrote in the earlier part of this review is relevant. I shall reproduce most of it (sans the political comment at the end and with an extra bit about Dr. Roberts' kindly giving detailed explanations of test results) here again as I am not sure why I am being asked for the same information twice. I was referred to Dr. Roberts by my psychiatrist after being diagnosed with a form of Bipolar Disorder and General Anxiety Disorder in 2022 after the COVID lockdown. I had noticed my fitness level had decreased and, more worryingly, experienced occasional pain in my heart. Dr. Roberts was fantastic. He conducted a series of tests and diagnosed me as having microvascular angina. He treated me with 50 sessions of ECP (External Counter Pulsation) which opens up the hundreds of thousands of tiny blood capillaries inside the heart. These had become constricted due inflammation of the lining (epithelium) of these capillaries due to the chronic stress and anxiety over lockdown (due to elevated levels of stress hormones such as cortisol and adrenaline). I couldn't believe it! Once the treatment was complete, my heart pain had disappeared and my fitness levels were back to where they were (being able to walk up steep hills with ease and do my favourite cardio exercises without any problems). Dr. Roberts is wise, caring and professional and takes the trouble to explain in detail the results of any tests he has carried out. I would not hesitate to recommend him to anyone.
