Dr. Richard Howarth trained and qualified at the Turner Dental Hospital at the University of Manchester, 1988. He then went to Australia and worked at Sydney University before coming back to the United Kingdom and working as a Senior House Officer at Manchester Royal Infirmary. After his time at Manchester Royal Infirmary, he then re-located to Stafford and took up a career in orthodontics and Surgery before entering general dental practice. He has looked after the busy people of Stafford since 1994.
With a love of the precise nature of dentistry, great communication skills, and a natural ability to build rapport, Richard has provided many patients including those who are more anxious the emotional support they need to receive great dental care.
Richard like to remain active in the community and also promoted dental health nationally and internationally and is a Trustee for the Charity Dental Mavericks as well as the Clinical Business Director for Gensmile Ltd.
Richard is married to Jeni and has two grown up children and a snood dog called Lottie.

Richard is the best dentist ever! He genuinely cares about your dental care and spends time talking to you about oral hygiene. I often find myself ‘gagging’ at a dentist but now with the understanding of why this happens I have managed to have a tooth restoration, x rays and full rental clean without having this issue! Richard is amazing and he put me at ease as I’m a very nervous patient. He ‘reads’ your body language throughout any examination or procedure and offers reassurance when needed. Richard you are fantastic and thank you!

Extremely friendly and knowledgeable- made me feel completely at ease during my procedure to fix a broken fixed retainer (completed at another dentist). Could not recommend more!

Reset my bite after comprehensive bite examination (the best I’ve ever had and I’m over 60) then restored my teeth with 2 crowns and replacement filling. The outsourcing of root filling was excellent also

He was very caring, took his time and let me compose myself as i was quite distressed, explained all he was doing and made me feel as much at ease as he could considering I have a phobia of dentists. You have given me back some faith that i had lost a lot of years ago that seeing a dentist does not have to be a nightmare. Thank you so much 😊👍
