Dr René Roux

Dr René Roux is a Consultant Medical Oncologist specialising in the treatment of breast and gynaecological cancers. She gained her medical degree in South Africa at the University of Cape Town, and subsequently moved to the UK. She gained her initial training at St Mary's London before specialising in Medical Oncology. After specialising, Dr Roux completed research at the Institute for Cancer Research whilst working at the Royal Marsden. She went through a rotation of teaching hospitals before taking up a Consultant position at Oxford in 2016. She now manages a busy NHS practice that offers all types of systemic treatments for breast and gynaecological cancers throughout the Thames Valley network.

Dr Roux is also actively involved in research, and serves as the principal investigator for several international and national clinical trials in Oxford and at Genesis Care, Oxford . In addition, she is interested in the use of novel agents and treatment combinations in ovarian cancer including PARP inhibitors and other targeted agents. She is the Thames Valley Research lead for Gynaecological Cancers and has recently been appointed as the Chair and Operational Lead for SACT across the Oxford University Hospitals Trust. She was recently appointed as the Oncology Lead for the Oxford Regional Specialists Clinics.

• Advanced ovarian and endometrial cancer, all stages of breast cancer
• Use of targeted treatments in combination with chemotherapy
• Novel agents including PARP inhibitors
• Early and advanced breast cancer
• Chemotherapy, biological therapy
• Bisphosphonates
• Targeted agents including CDK4/6 inhibitors
• Managing patients affected by the menopause due to their cancer treatment
