Professional Background:
I am practicing Paediatrics for more than 44 years. I have worked as a Consultant Paediatrician in India for more than seven years before starting to work in UK. I was Consultant Paediatrician and Reader in Paediatrics in University of Delhi and Consultant Paediatrician in one of the renowned corporate hospitals Sir Ganga Ram Hospital in Delhi.
From March 2002 I was lead clinician for Paediatric Neurology, Childhood epilepsy and neuro-disability at University Hospital of North Midlands (UHNM), Stoke-on-Trent. I was running an MDT neuro-psychiatry clinic at UHNM with my colleagues from Child and Mental Health Services (CAMHS) for children and young people with neurological disorders associated mental health problems. I was working very closely with my colleagues in paediatrics intensive care, neonatal intensive care, orthopaedics, spinal surgery, ophthalmology, ENT and other sub-specialities.
The other part of my work was in the Paediatric Neurology Department at Royal Manchester Children Hospital in the regional paediatric epilepsy service doing assessment of children with complex epilepsies needing epilepsy surgery, ketogenic diet and othermodalities of treatment.
I am interested in academic Paediatrics including teaching, training, medical education, practicing evidence-based medicine.
I am a national tutor for British Paediatric Neurology Association (BPNA) and teach regularly on PET (Paediatric Epilepsy Training) level 1, 2, 3 and CHaT1 (Children’s HeadacheTraining) and BPNA distant learning module on epilepsy.
I was one of the founder members to develop one-day national teaching programme called Children’s Headache Training (CHaT1) for British Paediatric Neurology Association (BPNA). Our group has successfully run more than 40 CHaT1 courses all over the country with excellent feedback.
