Professor Ramzi Khamis

Professor Ramzi Khamis is a consultant cardiologist and Clinical Director of Cardiology and Cardtiothoracic Surgery at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust with a joint academic appointment as a Professor of cardiology at the National Heart and Lung Institute, Imperial College London. As well as general cardiology, Dr Khamis is sub-specialised in interventional cardiology and carries out angiography and angioplasty using advanced techniques.

As well as general and interventional cardiology, Dr Khamis has a keen interest and is a leader in the research field of cardiovascular risk stratification. He and his research team work on the innovative development of interventional cardiology technologies for the diagnosis and treatment of coronary artery disease, which is the leading single cause of death globally.

He also runs the high-risk atherosclerosis and cardio-immune clinic at Imperial. Dr. Khamis sits on international cardiology journal editorial and international cardiology meeting boards and is regularly invited to speak in national and international forums on research, training and public health aspects of cardiovascular medicine.

Prof. Khamis is a leader in his field both clinically and academically. He remains at the forefront of his specialty for example during the COVID-19 pandemic he led a Cardio immune clinic that handled many cases of post COVID complications such as myocarditis and pericarditis.
