About Dr Rakesh Sharma
Dr Rakesh Sharma is a consultant cardiologist at Royal Brompton Hospital and Cardiology Lead for Cardiac Sarcoidosis.
He qualified in 1995 with triple honours from Guy's and St Thomas' Hospital Medical School (now part of King's College London) and was Proxime Accessit to the University of London Gold Medal. He underwent postgraduate training at tertiary centres in London.
Dr Sharma was awarded a British Heart Foundation fellowship to study his PhD in cardiology at the National Heart and Lung Institute, Imperial College London. For his research, he won the Young Investigator Prize at the American Heart Association.

From the beginning of the process, Kirstie was extremely professional and lightning fast with confirmations, letters, managing a complex international referral pathway, liaising with different family members, and generally being a fantastic port of call. Dr Sharma was not only extremely thorough, kind, and extremely competent but he also recommended the one test that solved the issue that prevented us from going down a complex surgical route. After the consultation, all paperwork, results, medical reports were produced and shared before work hours even began even though the consultation was late in the evening. Kudos to Dr Sharma, Kirstie, and the entire team for delivering a truly first class service.
