About Dr Oliver Segal
Dr Oliver Segal, Consultant Cardiologist and Electrophysiologist, previously worked a Consultant at Barts Heart Centre and University College Hospitals for 17 years before going into full time private practice in January 2026. He sees private patients at The Physicians' Clinic, part of The Harley Street Clinic at 14 Devonshire Street, London. Dr Segal sees patients with all manner of cardiac problems, and has specialist skills treating heart rhythm problems, with a specific focus on catheter ablations and cardiac devices to improve quality of life (catheter ablation of AF/atrial flutter/SVT, and fitting standard, conduction system and leadless pacemakers, and complex devices such as Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillator (ICDs) and CRT devices. He also implants left atrial appendage occlusion devices for people with AF who cannot take anticoagulatns safely.
Dr Segal began his medical education at King's College London, graduating in 1995. He proceeded to train in cardiology at St. Mary's & St. George's Hospitals in London, before being awarded a Fellowship in Electrophysiology & Devices with Prof George Klein in Canada. During his training, Dr Segal undertook a Doctorate on mapping complex ventricular arrhythmias, and being awarded a PhD from Imperial College for his work. He was also awarded the Young Investigator's Award by the Heart Rhythm Society for his PhD work.
Dr Segal continues to be an active researcher, publishing often in cardiology & electrophysiology journals with a keen focus on atrial fibrillation, catheter ablation and device implantation. He was lead within University College London Hospitals for electrophysiology & arrhythmias for 10 years and previously sat on the European Heart Rhythm Association Exam Setting Committee.

I saw Dr Segal with what I thought was episodes of Atrial Fibrillation. My blood pressure was also very high on and off at the time. I am 77 and really started to worry something might be wrong. I got an appointment very quickly and Claire, his PA managed to book me in for an ECG, Echo, Zio monitor and CT scan within a few days. She was very helpful. Dr. Segal listened to me carefully and reviewed previous test results from 5 years ago and took everything into consideration when deciding the best course of action. No further action was needed but he suggested I get in touch if there was anything I was concerned about in the future. Highly recommend.
