Mr Mark Jeffery is an Orthopaedic Consultant, Specialist in Shoulder and Upper Limb at University Hospital Lewisham, London with over 20 years experience.
Mr Jeffery is a specialist in the management of all conditions affecting the shoulder, elbow, hand and wrist. He is an expert in arthroscopic surgery (keyhole), shoulder reconstruction, complex rotator tears and bone augmentation procedures for instability. He treats all aspects of hand and wrist problems including carpal tunnel, cubital tunnel syndrome, trigger finger, Dupuytren's contracture, TFCC repair, wrist instability, tendon transfers, arthritis of joints.
His clinical expertise includes the evaluation and management of sports injuries, appointed by his peers as 'The Educational Lead' in Surgery for Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust, he is responsible for surgical training, from the foundation doctor to the surgeon of the future. He was commended by the London specialist trainees as 'The Trainer of the year, and 'The Trainees Educational Supervisor of the year, in Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trusts. He is also a Royal College of Surgeons College Tutor and has undertaken lecturing and examining pre and post-graduates in orthopaedic surgery. In addition he has trained and developed international medical graduates being involved in their development programmes.
Mr Jeffery qualified from Charing Cross and Westminster, Imperial College School of Medicine, London. He completed his surgical training in London and was privileged to undertake his specialist orthopaedic training at The Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital renowned internationally, which also included training at other London teaching hospitals. Mr Jeffery has completed two specialist fellowship posts, one in complex reconstructive surgery and in advanced arthroscopic techniques at the Epsom Shoulder Unit in Surrey and as a Trauma Fellow at The Royal London, Trauma Unit.
