Dr Hugh Bethell

Dr Hugh Bethell is a consultant cardiologist and has been based at Northwick Park Hospital in Harrow for over 20 years. He also practices in a number of private hospitals. He acts as the Lead for cardiac pacemakers and also specialises in cases of heart failure. Areas of interest include ischaemic heart disease coronary angiography, arrhyythmias, implantation of cardiac devices,hypertension and heart failure. In addition to teaching cardiology to under graduates, Dr Bethell is also the primary investigator for Northwick Park Hospital's cardiac research trials.

Dr Bethell gradated from Cambridge University in 1987 and then continued training in cardiology at Papworth Hospital. He was awarded a PhD from Cambridge for his research into the mechanisms of arrhythmias in ischaeia. He is a fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and an honorary senior lecturer at Imperial College, London and an honorary consultant cardiologist at the Royal Brompton Hospital and holds professional membership of the Royal College of Physicians.
