Dr. Rizvi is a Senior Physician in who has held a Consultant post in a Watford District General Hospital since 1st of May 2001 in the Department of Medicine.
His duties include supervision of one Specialist Registrar, one GP trainee, one Core Medical Trainee and one Foundation Trainee Year 1 and teaching students from University College London and University of Grenada.
He conducts three ward rounds per week on acutely ill medical patients with a wide variety of acute medical illnesses as well as elderly inpatients. He is on call for un-selected medical patients of all ages as per general medical rota.
He does one outpatient clinics per week for complex medical problems and one outpatient clinic per week for patients with Parkinson’s disease.
In addition to the above he has a special interest in looking after 22 rehabilitation patients at Langley House Rehabilitation Unit where he does two ward rounds per week for patients undergoing rehabilitation through multidisciplinary team following a stroke, surgery or needing medical rehabilitation.
He is involved in audit meetings and the clinical governance programme in his department.
He is the lead for teaching programme for his department and conducts teaching meetings on every Monday between 1-2 pm in the Postgraduate Centre. He the MRCP examiner for the Royal College of Physicians London for the PACES examination for the MRCP.
He provides outpatient consultation as well as inpatient admission for patients of all ages with a wide variety of medical problems.
Dr. Rizvi has is also heavily involved in research, publications and teaching:
- He is the lead for Parkinson's Disease Research Projects at West Hertfordshire Hospitals NHS Trust.
- He was the Royal College of Physicians tutor from 2002 till 2008.
- He has been a MRCP Examiner for the Royal College of Physicians since 2008.
- He is the lead physician for Elderly Care Teaching and Training Programme since 2001 and he personally conducts these well received tutorials for all the junior doctors and registrars in elderly care department.
- He teaches junior doctors for the MRCP examination. As a previous college tutor, he has a special interest to maintain the teaching and training of the junior doctors.
- He is an Honorary Lecturer for undergraduate medical students at University College London (UCL) and Greneda from 2005 till now.
Public Health Awareness; He has given many lectures to the general public in the local community on topics such as health awareness, blood pressure, cholesterol, heart disease and Parkinson's disease between 2001 and now and his talks have been featured in the local newspaper, and he has received commendation from the President of the local Parkinson's Disease Society and Local Temples.
He is married with three daughters. He love spending time with his family and enjoy reading and photography when he gets time
