Dr Piyush Jain is a consultant cardiologist currently working at the private practices Spire Bushey and Harpenden Hospital, HCA Wellington and Elstree Waterfront centre as well as OSD Healthcare. His NHS base is West Hertfordshire Hospitals. He has been a consultant cardiologist at West Hertfordshire NHS Trust since 2017 and is currently the departmental lead for echocardiography as well as the lead for clinical governance.
Dr Jain attained his first medical qualification in 2000. He completed his medical training in North London, at hospitals including Royal Brompton and Harefield Trusts as well the Barnet and Chase Farm hospitals, obtaining MRCP in 2010. He further trained at District General Hospitals and Essex cardiothoracic centre where he trained advanced cardiac imaging (Cardiac CT, Echocardiography). He now trains registars in these specialist techniques and teaches on advanced CT courses.
In 2015 he completed an MD (Research) at Imperial College London. His work was supported by the prestigious Dorothy Hodgkin Post Graduate award. He has presented his research at local and international conferences as well as published in high impact peer reviewed journals.
Dr Jain has many professional memberships including Royal College of Physicians, British Cardiovascular Society, European Society of Cardiology, British Society of Echocardiography, European Association of Cardiovascular Imaging, Society of Cardiovascular Computed Tomography and British Heart Valve Society.
While he see patients with all aspects of cardiac pathology, he has a special interest in advanced imaging (Echo, stress echo, Transoesophageal echo and cardiac CT).
He enjoys interaction with patients and spend as much time with them as needed to get to a clear diagnosis and clarification of all the findings and diagnosis to the patient. He ensures that they understand their disease, prognosis and future plans as well as rational for ongoing treatment. This allows for individualized medicine as far as possible, as well as shared decision making.
