Dr Hemant Sharma

Dr Sharma did his Gastroenterology training in London and his subspecialist training in liver diseases and interventional endoscopy and ERCP at University College Hospital and the Royal Free Hospital Liver Transplant Unit.

His current NHS Consultant role is that of Clinical Lead for Gastroenterology at Tunbridge Wells Hospital, where he has led his team to achieve the highly coveted JAG certificate, the hallmark of excellence in gastrointestinal endoscopy services. He is an expert in performing endoscopies of all types, both upper and lower GI endoscopies ( ogd and colonoscopy) as well as endoscopies for gall stones i.e. ERCP.

Dr Sharma has carried out more than 15,000 endoscopies and has started the service of endoscopic stenting of colorectal cancer in Kent. He also chairs the benign liver meeting at his hospital discussing and providing management plans for these complex cases.

He has published many articles in peer reviewed medical journal and has also presented in national and international medical conferences. His project was also awarded the best project in the national British society of Gastroenterology conference in 2015. Considered an expert in his field, he regularly sees patients who have been referred by peers, GPs or have self referred themselves,  so that they can benefit from his understanding of complex gastrointestinal disorders.
