Dr. David Hunter is a Consultant Gynaecologist with extensive experience. He offers consultations and treatment for a broad range of gynaecological conditions, with special interests in the investigation and management of endometriosis, chronic pelvic pain, recurrent miscarriage, menstrual dysfunction, and female sterilisation.
Dr. Hunter graduated with an MBChB, BAO from Queen’s University Belfast in 1992 and achieved membership of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists in 1998. He was awarded an MD by QUB following his research into the pre-operative imaging and staging of endometriosis. During his early career, he participated in a sabbatical clinical fellowship with Professor Ray Garry in Middlesbrough (2000–2001), which further enriched his research and clinical expertise.
Appointed as a Consultant Gynaecologist at the Royal Victoria Hospital in 2005, and subsequently within the Belfast Trust, Dr. Hunter developed a multidisciplinary team for managing advanced endometriosis, incorporating specialists from rectal surgery, urology, imaging, pain management, and fertility. He was also central to establishing a dedicated clinic for women experiencing recurrent miscarriages. Although he resigned from his NHS post in 2020, he continues to retain contacts with his multidisciplinary team in his ongoing private practice.

Many patients highlight life-changing outcomes after procedures such as hysterectomy and laparoscopic surgery for endometriosis, following long waits. His expertise provides significant benefits across various gynaecology cases.
Listened to and wasn’t dismissed, took everything I had concerns about on board and made me feel at ease! Dr Hunters secretary was amazing too most helpful
Dr Hunter was impersonal and dismissive. He kept asking if he had met me before in each appointment - despite doing my surgery plus multiple consultations. I would expect a consultant to at least glance over notes pre-appointment. He did not reassure me during post-op complications. Even disputed my pain post-op but my symptoms were very real. Repeatedly asked my partner and I if we were trying to get pregnant at each consultation which I repeatedly informed him I have the coil. Lack of clear explanations of findings. I had to complete a SAR form to get all my medical notes for some sort of clarity. Extremely disappointed after so many years fighting for diagnosis to be as equally dismissed post-op. My partner and I will be going elsewhere. Wish I had read previous negative reviews.
I had a 2 night stay at Kingsbridge and couldn’t have asked for better care anything I needed it was never a hassle to anyone.

Fantastic as always. Seen Dr Hunter now for the past 4 years. The way he advocates not just for me as his patient but also women’s health is admirable and definitely needed in society today. Extremely grateful to have such a great Dr looking out for me and my disease. Thank you again Dr Hunter.
