Professor Gaya is a Consultant Gastroenterologist at Glasgow Royal Infirmary who qualified in 1988. He is an honorary professor at University of Glasgow. He has undertaken two research degrees into inflammatory bowel disease (Crohn's disease & ulcerative colitis). He undertake a wide range of upper & lower GI endoscopic procedures.
Professor Gaya is board member of the Scottish IBD charity C³ and the an elected councillor of the British Society of Gastroenterology (BSG).
Professor Gaya is a member of the NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde Area Drug & Therapeutics Committtee (ADTC) and a gastroenterology advisor to the Scottish Medicines Consortium (SMC). In addition to numerous publications and international presentations, Professor Gaya is on the editorial board of the World Journal of Gastroenterology, has contributed to several medical textbooks and frequently acts as an expert witness in medico-legal cases.
Outside of medicine Professor Gaya enjoys golf & walking his dog!
