About Dr Craig Mowat
Dr Mowat graduated MBChB with Commendation from University of Glasgow in 1992, and was awarded the Stockman Medal. Following this he compeleted his foundation training before undertaking his higher training in gastroenterology in the West of Scotland. At the culmination of this training he was appointed Consultant Gastroenterologist at Ninewells Hospital & Medical School, Dundee in 2002. His main expertise is investigating and managing digestive problems. He is highly experienced in endoscopy and colonoscopy, managing irritable bowel, inflammatory bowel disease, and other digestive conditions. He has been the lead author of the UK Guidelines on management of Inflammatory Bowel Disease, and leads a research group focused on early detection of bowel cancer.
Dr Mowat has a busy private practice at Tayside Complete health, having previously practised from BMI Fernbrae until it closed. He is a senior consultant with 24 years experience as a specialist gastroenterologist. He has previously served as Clinical Lead for Gastroenterology Services in NHS Tayside. He is the Clinical Lead for Bowel Cancer Screening in NHS Tayside. He is a very experienced endoscopist (upper GI endoscopy and colonoscopy), and is a member of Faculty at the national endoscopy training centre based at the Institute of Healthcare Simulation, University of Dundee.

Made appointment, felt at ease as soon as I arrived by friendly receptionist. Dr Mowat came out to greet me at agreed time and went through a thorough line of questioning to fully understand situation. Very assuring and the explanations provided were excellent.
He was very pleasant and friendly, he helped me sort out my issues quickly and effectively.

I had been having on going tummy issues for at least three years and was getting no where with my gp surgery, dr mowat was attentive, listened and help my condition greatly improve.
Very thankful for Dr Mowat's expertese and advice. I have been troubled with an issue for years, that I thought was stomach acid related. However from the first consultation and examination, Dr Mowat was suspecting this issue was more a IBS issue. Which after an edoscopy procedure carried out with precision by DR Mowat, the results confirmed his original diagnosis. Dr Mowat advised for me to cut out 'Wheat' from my diet. In which I did straight away and within a short period, my symptoms had dissapated. That much so I am no confident that this issue has been resolved. I am so thankful to Dr Mowat
