Dermatology Training: Cardiff, Leeds and the Royal London Hospital.
While in Leeds I was appointed as a Lecturer and undertook research in acne - trying to understand what makes one person have acne and another clear skin. I obtained an MD Thesis for this work in 1991
When working as a Senior Registrar in London my interest was in Health Education and how to persuade children to be safe in the sun. I lead a collaboration with educationalists, and Dermatologists in Melbourne and New York who undertook the same studies as ours. We demonstrated a change in attitude and behaviour in primary school children. In adolescents we showed an increase in knowledge but not a change in behaviour!
Memberships: British Association of Dermatologists, Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians, British Society of Paediatric Dermatology, British Society Vulval Disease
In addition I am a member of the Clinical Services Committee at the British Association of Dermatologists. It's role it to troubleshoot in hospitals around the country and produce guidelines to ensure best practice for Dermatology treatments.
