Professor Alison Layton

Professor Alison Layton is a Dermatologist currently working at the private practice BMI The Duchy Hospital, and Harrogate District Hospital, in North Yorkshire, which treats both NHS and private patients. Her Current NHS post is Harrogate and District NHS Foundation Trust. Her areas of interest are acne, polycystic ovary syndrome, psoriasis, skin tumours and eczema.

Professor Layton graduated from The University of Sheffield with Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery degrees in 1982. In 1987 she attained Membership of the Royal College of Physicians in 1987 and a Fellowship in 1999. She specialised in Dermatology in Leeds Teaching Hospitals.

Professor Layton is also interested in research, she has conducted many clinical trials regarding inflammatory skin disorders, dermato-oncology and wound care. She is a Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer at Hull York Medical School and is a clinical affiliate at the University of York.
