Dr Diane Barker

Dr Diane Barker is a highly dedicated Consultant Cardiologist who provides comprehensive care for patients with a wide range of cardiovascular conditions. With a reassuring and patient-centred approach, she specialises in general cardiology, with a particular focus on heart failure and the management of cardiac devices. Dr Barker is committed to delivering high-quality, evidence-based care, helping patients navigate their cardiac health with confidence and clarity.

Dr Barker completed her medical degree (MB ChB) at Liverpool Medical School before undertaking her postgraduate training within the Mersey Deanery Training Programme. She further advanced her expertise by completing subspecialty training at a leading heart and chest hospital. In addition to her clinical training, she was awarded a Doctor of Medicine (MD) from the University of Leeds for her research into cardiovascular function during pregnancy. She is a Member of the Royal College of Physicians (MRCP), reflecting her commitment to maintaining the highest standards of clinical practice.

Throughout her clinical career, Dr Barker has developed significant expertise in managing complex cardiac conditions. Her clinical interests include heart failure, maternal heart disease in pregnancy, and aortopathies such as Marfan syndrome. She is also highly skilled in the implementation and management of cardiac devices, including pacemakers, cardiac resynchronisation devices, and implantable cardioverter defibrillators. Alongside her clinical work, Dr Barker serves as an Educational Lead, dedicating her time to teaching and mentoring medical students, junior doctors, and specialist nurses.
