About Mr David Ross
Mr. David Ross is a highly accomplished Consultant Urological Surgeon. His specialist interests are in kidney stones, endourology & benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), as well as delivering comprehensive care in general urology, including urinary tract infections (UTIs), vasectomy, foreskin problems/circumcision, scrotal problems & swellings (hydrocele & epididymal cysts), blood in the urine (haematuria), urinary incontinence and problems passing urine.
David graduated from the University of Manchester in 1997 and underwent Urological training in the North West of England Deanery. His exceptional performance was recognised with the Keith Yeates Gold Medal in the FRCS(Urol) examination. In 2008, David was awarded a post-graduate research doctorate (MD) for his studies in prostate cancer.
Since his appointment as a Consultant Urological Surgeon at Salford Royal Hospital in 2009, David has developed a comprehensive service for urinary stone treatment. He utilises minimally invasive techniques and non-invasive shockwave lithotripsy (ESWL), emphasising stone prevention strategies as integral to patient care as well as metabolic evaluation and interventions for high frequency stone forming patients.
Beyond clinical practice, David is passionate about medical education and training. He holds a Post-Graduate Diploma in Medical Education from the University of Manchester and serves as an Associate Dean within NHS England NW. In this role, he oversees and assures the quality of medical training. His contributions to surgical education extend nationally, where he has delivered roles in the Urology Specialist Advisory Committee, the Joint Committee on Surgical Training and as an Examiner for the JCIE.
David provides leadership in professional standards as Responsible Officer for the Northern Care Alliance; ensuring the competence and professionalism of the medical workforce.

An early date for initial consultation at which my medical history was reviewed and treatment options clearly set out. I was given the time to discuss and explore those options and felt that I was guided to the best option for my case. Surgery was preceded by clear explanation of the procedure and discussion of possible complications which might require follow up so that I was made aware without being alarmed. I was visited both immediately after surgery and the following morning at which the operation was reviewed and future treatment discussed. I felt throughout that I was given all the time needed to seek clarifications. I found Mr Ross to have a calm, patient approach and to be very clear about all aspects of the process. He also successfully removed multiple kidney stones and left me virtually pain free. I would have no hesitation in recommending him to anyone facing similar issues.
Appointment kept on time. Some confusion at check in before staff found my appointment which was a bit concerning after a three hour journey but earlier text r minders were reassuring.
Very detailed consultation and examination. Discussed my medical problem with Mr Ross and felt all my questions were answered clearly and in detail. I felt confident to proceed to the next stage of my treatment to resolve the problem I’ve been suffering with for a couple of years.
