Dr Darren Craig

Dr Darren Craig is an accomplished Consultant Gastroenterologist dedicated to providing expert care for patients experiencing digestive tract and liver conditions. Specialising in both general gastroenterology and advanced hepatology, he offers thorough diagnostic evaluations and tailored treatment strategies to support optimal gastrointestinal health. His patient-focused approach emphasises clear communication and compassionate care, ensuring individuals feel supported throughout their clinical management.

Dr Craig completed his Bachelor of Science in Medical Sciences in 1998 and earned his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MB ChB) in 2001 from the University of Edinburgh. He achieved Membership of the Royal College of Physicians in 2005 and obtained a Diploma in Tropical Medicine and Hygiene with Distinction from the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine & Hygiene in 2006. He earned his specialist qualification in Gastroenterology in 2011 and completed his Doctorate of Medicine (MD) at the University of Edinburgh in 2012. In recognition of his ongoing commitment to the field, Dr Craig was elected a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh in 2018. He maintains active professional membership with the Royal College of Physicians.

His clinical focus includes the diagnosis and management of complex liver conditions such as cirrhosis, metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease, alcohol-related liver disease, and chronic liver failure. As a Specialist, Dr Craig also oversees hepatocellular carcinoma surveillance and performs investigative and therapeutic procedures including diagnostic gastroscopy, colonoscopy, FibroScan evaluations, and outpatient paracentesis. Working closely alongside multidisciplinary clinical teams, he delivers evidence-based interventions aimed at improving patient outcomes and overall quality of life.
