Mr Daniele Lorenzano

Mr Daniele Lorenzano is a highly skilled Consultant Ophthalmologist specialising in oculoplastic, lacrimal, orbital, and aesthetic surgery. With extensive experience in the field, he provides expert care for patients with a range of eyelid abnormalities, including congenital disorders, cancerous conditions, facial paralysis, and age-related changes. He also addresses orbital and eyelid diseases associated with thyroid issues and performs surgical procedures for lacrimal conditions.

Mr Lorenzano has a particular interest in eyelid and reconstructive surgery of the face, with a focus on functional restoration, cancer treatment, and cosmetic enhancements. He is experienced in performing aesthetic procedures and utilises injectables around the eyes to achieve optimal results.

Having joined the University Hospital Southampton NHS Trust in 2019, Mr. Lorenzano has previously held consultant positions at renowned eye hospitals in Milan (Italy - Eye Hospital) and London (Moorfields Eye Hospital). He has also worked in various countries in Africa, collaborating with local healthcare teams as part of the World Health Organization (WHO) roster project to prevent blindness. During these missions, he treated patients with eye infections and reconstructive diseases, contributing to efforts in preserving eyesight.

Mr Lorenzano obtained his degrees in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Rome. He completed his comprehensive training in Ophthalmology at the University of Rome, Tor Vergata, earning the prestigious CCT cum laude in Ophthalmology. To further refine his expertise, he underwent advanced training in orbital, lacrimal, eyelid reconstructive, and aesthetic surgery at Moorfields Eye Hospital, Bristol Eye Hospital, and as a visiting fellow at the Eye and Ear Hospital in Melbourne.

In Milan, Mr Lorenzano established the first oculoplastic and orbital service at the Eye Hospital and served at the National Cancer Institute for several years. He has actively participated in research trials as an investigator and is dedicated to education, providing training to surgeons and junior doctors in the safe practices of eyelid and orbital surgery.
