About Mr Daniele Lorenzano
Mr Daniele Lorenzano is a highly skilled Consultant Ophthalmologist specialising in oculoplastic, lacrimal, orbital, and aesthetic surgery. With extensive experience in the field, he provides expert care for patients with a range of eyelid abnormalities, including congenital disorders, cancerous conditions, facial paralysis, and age-related changes. He also addresses orbital and eyelid diseases associated with thyroid issues and performs surgical procedures for lacrimal conditions.
Mr Lorenzano has a particular interest in eyelid and reconstructive surgery of the face, with a focus on functional restoration, cancer treatment, and cosmetic enhancements. He is experienced in performing aesthetic procedures and utilises injectables around the eyes to achieve optimal results.
Having joined the University Hospital Southampton NHS Trust in 2019, Mr. Lorenzano has previously held consultant positions at renowned eye hospitals in Milan (Italy - Eye Hospital) and London (Moorfields Eye Hospital). He has also worked in various countries in Africa, collaborating with local healthcare teams as part of the World Health Organization (WHO) roster project to prevent blindness. Mr Lorenzano obtained his degrees in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Rome. He completed his comprehensive training in Ophthalmology at the University of Rome, Tor Vergata, earning the prestigious CCT cum laude in Ophthalmology. To further refine his expertise, he underwent advanced training in orbital, lacrimal, eyelid reconstructive, and aesthetic surgery at Moorfields Eye Hospital, Bristol Eye Hospital, and as a visiting fellow at the Eye and Ear Hospital in Melbourne.
In Milan, Mr Lorenzano established the first oculoplastic and orbital service at the Eye Hospital and served at the National Cancer Institute for several years. He has actively participated in research trials as an investigator and is dedicated to education, providing training to surgeons and junior doctors in the safe practices of eyelid and orbital surgery.

I recently had a lower eyelid operation preformed by Mr Lorenzo at Southampton Hospital Eye Unit. Throughout the consultation, operation and the follow up appointment I found him to be exceptional professional. He explained everything very clearly with the procedure and also how successful the operation had been. During the operation he was in total control and I was highly impressed with his and his team's performance. I could not fault any part of the procedure.
Very calm when he listens and very clear when he explains.
Every step explained in detail in a comforting manner.I was well cared for by an experienced and skilled surgeon.
Throughout the 4 years of my eye treatments by Mr Lorenzano I found him to be professional, charming, and approachable. He took time to explain clearly the procedures he was going to undertake and was never satisfied until he felt that his high standards had been attained (marked by a cry of Bellissimo!) and that I was happy with the result.
Bedside manner was excellent. I was made comfortable and had good explanation of the procedure and I was listened to. The operation to lift the eyelid went well and I can see to read much better. (Before the op the lid came down as I bent my head down and I could not see to read ). I am very pleased with the op. I was not traumatised in any way and was looked after well. My only problem was once at home ( I live on my own though I was with my daughter for the 1st 2 days. ). When trying to get the choromycetin gel in my eye. Unlike the hylo forte eye drops (for lubrication which drop straight into the eye as u press the trigger) the chloromycetin gel does not drop immediately and sticks to its outlet - hence I found it frequently missed the eye! However all is well!😊😊
Very understanding and empathetic and thorough explanations
I was very impressed with the excellent professional treatment and support I received from Mr Lorenzano. The surgical procedure was fully explained to me and I also received excellent checks and recovery advice following the actual surgery. Mr Lorenzano also addressed any queries/concerns I had regarding the procedure.
