Dr Craig McIlhenny

Dr Craig McIlhenny is an established Consultant Urologist who provides comprehensive, patient-centred care across a wide range of urological conditions. He is dedicated to improving patient outcomes through modern diagnostic pathways and evidence-based treatments. Working closely with multidisciplinary teams, Dr McIlhenny focuses on delivering efficient, high-quality care that prioritises patient comfort, dignity, and clarity throughout every stage of assessment and management.

In his clinical practice, Dr McIlhenny manages both general and complex urological health issues. His clinical interests encompass the diagnosis and treatment of kidney stones, prostate disorders, bladder conditions, and testicular concerns. He delivers a variety of specialised diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, including flexible cystoscopy, prostate biopsy, uroflowmetry assessment, bladder Botox injections, vasectomy, and circumcision. In addition, Dr McIlhenny has been instrumental in implementing innovative care models, such as streamlined diagnostic hubs and virtual review clinics for stone disease, which help reduce patient waiting times and improve accessibility.

Dr McIlhenny completed his undergraduate medical degree, earning his Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB), and subsequently attained a Postgraduate Certificate in Medical Education. He achieved Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons in Urology, holding the FRCS (Urol) qualification, and is a Fellow of the Faculty of Surgical Trainers of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. A member of the British Association of Urological Surgeons, Dr McIlhenny has also served as Surgical Director within national surgical training initiatives, contributing extensively to research on non-technical skills, patient safety, and surgical education.
