Dr Claire Edwards

Dr Claire Edwards is a dedicated Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon specialising in hand and wrist surgery as well as orthopaedic trauma care. She provides comprehensive clinical care for patients experiencing a wide range of upper limb and hand conditions, combining surgical precision with a compassionate, patient-centred approach. Her practice focuses on achieving optimal functional recovery, whether treating acute traumatic injuries or managing chronic degenerative joint conditions.

Dr Edwards earned her medical degree (BM BCh) from the University of Oxford before completing a PhD at the University of Nottingham. She subsequently completed higher specialist training in Trauma and Orthopaedics, alongside advanced fellowship training in hand and wrist surgery. She holds Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons in Trauma and Orthopaedics, FRCS (Tr and Orth). In addition, Dr Edwards maintains active professional memberships with the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, the British Orthopaedic Association, and the British Society for Surgery of the Hand.

Her clinical interests include the management of hand arthritis, Dupuytren's disease, hand trauma, and orthopaedic infections. Beyond her surgical duties, Dr Edwards is deeply involved in postgraduate surgical education and clinical leadership, helping to guide training standards and patient care quality. She collaborates closely with each patient to develop tailored treatment plans designed to alleviate pain, restore hand function, and enhance quality of life.
