Dr Christopher Plummer

Dr Christopher Plummer is an experienced Consultant Cardiologist who provides comprehensive cardiovascular care to patients facing a wide range of heart conditions. He possesses specialist clinical expertise in the management of heart rhythm disorders and the cardiac care of individuals undergoing treatment for cancer. Dedicated to delivering compassionate and patient-centred care, Dr Plummer works closely with patients to assess heart function, manage complex cardiovascular symptoms, and safeguard long-term heart health through individualised management plans.

In his clinical practice, Dr Plummer focuses extensively on cardio-oncology and implantable cardiac rhythm devices. His work in cardio-oncology involves the early detection, prevention, and management of heart complications associated with cancer therapies, such as chemotherapy and targeted biological treatments. Furthermore, he offers specialist care in the implantation, monitoring, and management of cardiac electronic devices including pacemakers, implantable cardioverter defibrillators (ICDs), and cardiac resynchronisation therapy (CRT) units, as well as regional device lead extraction services and MRI assessments for device recipients. Alongside his direct clinical responsibilities, he serves as a Chief Clinical Information Officer, applying digital technology solutions to enhance patient safety and healthcare quality.

Dr Plummer completed his undergraduate medical education at Bristol University and Oxford University, followed by specialist post-graduate Cardiology training within the Northern Deanery. He maintains active involvement with leading professional organisations, including the British Cardiovascular Society, the European Society of Cardiology, the Union of European Medical Specialists, and the British Cardio-Oncology Society. In addition to clinical practice, Dr Plummer is heavily engaged in medical education, clinical research, and national and international examination boards for Cardiology trainees.
