Dr Christopher O'Callaghan

Dr Christopher O'Callaghan is a distinguished Consultant Paediatrician and Paediatric Respiratory Specialist. He is dedicated to providing compassionate, comprehensive clinical care for infants, children, and adolescents experiencing a wide range of respiratory and breathing disorders. With a reassuring and child-centred approach, Dr O'Callaghan works closely with young patients and their families to deliver clear diagnostic assessments and individualised management plans that support long-term well-being.

His clinical expertise encompasses complex chest conditions, including childhood asthma, recurrent wheezing, persistent cough, primary ciliary dyskinesia, cystic fibrosis, bronchiectasis, and severe respiratory infections. Dr O'Callaghan holds particular expertise in aerosol drug delivery, evaluating inhaled therapies, and optimising drug administration methods to suit the unique developmental needs of growing children.

Dr O'Callaghan completed his initial medical education at the University of Nottingham, graduating with a Bachelor of Medical Sciences and a Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery. He subsequently earned a Doctorate of Medicine focusing on aerosol drug delivery, as well as a Doctor of Philosophy investigating ciliated respiratory cells. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health, a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians, and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Biology.

Beyond his direct clinical practice, Dr O'Callaghan is a Professor of Respiratory and Paediatric Medicine involved in clinical research and medical education. His work focuses on translating scientific advances into practical bedside care, advancing diagnostic techniques, and refining respiratory treatments to improve outcomes for young patients worldwide.
