Dr Christopher Mitchell

Dr Christopher Mitchell is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon specialising in the comprehensive care of hip and knee conditions. He offers expert diagnosis and treatment for individuals experiencing joint pain, arthritis, and complex musculoskeletal trauma. Taking a reassuring and patient-centred approach, Dr Mitchell prioritises clear communication, ensuring patients thoroughly understand their condition and the full range of surgical and non-surgical management options available to them.

In his clinical practice, Dr Mitchell performs a wide variety of advanced surgical procedures, including robot-assisted knee replacements, partial knee replacements, and total hip and knee joint replacements. His expertise extends to revision joint surgeries, knee arthroscopy, meniscectomy, bone grafting, and image-guided therapeutic joint injections. By utilising national registry data to guide the selection of high-performing joint implants and employing minimally invasive techniques, he focuses on delivering long-term joint function and helping patients regain mobility.

Dr Mitchell completed his undergraduate medical studies at Oxford University and University College London, qualifying in 2006. He subsequently underwent higher specialist surgical training in trauma and orthopaedics in the Wessex region, followed by advanced specialist fellowships in hip and knee surgery, major trauma, complex arthroplasty, and an international travelling fellowship in Texas, United States. In recognition of his exceptional performance in his specialist postgraduate examinations, he was awarded the Sir Walter Mercer Gold Medal. Dr Mitchell is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England and maintains active professional memberships with the British Orthopaedic Association, the British Hip Society, and the Orthopaedic Trauma Society.
