Dr Christopher Cowie

Dr Christopher Cowie is a dedicated Consultant Neurosurgeon who provides comprehensive surgical care for both adult and paediatric patients. He focuses on delivering personalised, patient-centred treatment across a wide range of cranial and spinal conditions. Working closely with multidisciplinary teams, Dr Cowie ensures that every individual receives thorough assessment and a tailored management plan suited to their specific medical needs.

Dr Cowie graduated with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MB BS) from Newcastle University in 2002. He pursued postgraduate research into traumatic brain injury, receiving his Doctorate of Medicine (MD) from Newcastle University in 2012, and completed his higher surgical training to attain Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in Neurosurgery in 2015. Following this, he undertook a dedicated sub-speciality fellowship in paediatric neurosurgery and epilepsy surgery at the Royal Children's Hospital in Melbourne. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and holds active memberships in the Society of British Neurological Surgeons, the European Society for Paediatric Neurosurgery, and the British Paediatric Neurosurgery Group.

With broad clinical expertise, Dr Cowie specialises in complex surgical interventions, including paediatric neurosurgery, epilepsy surgery, functional neuro-oncology, and degenerative spinal disease. He also maintains an active interest in advanced neuroimaging and the management of traumatic brain injury. Through combining surgical excellence with a compassionate clinical approach, Dr Cowie is committed to delivering the highest standards of care to his patients.
